Unity Festival

08/09/07

All through the night, Snoopy forged ahead from upstate New York through fields and forests until he arrived safe and sound in St. Joseph, Michigan. Creagon’s parents graciously have allowed the team to sleep on their beds and floors, and the team has greatly enjoyed both the use of Lake Michigan just down the bluff and Jim (Creagon’s father) has been lending the team his amazing cooking skills.

After napping till just after 1 pm, the team took a two hour drive north to Muskegon, Michigan where Unity Festival is being held.

08/10/07

The team has been enjoying Unity Festival. Out of the three festivals, Unity seems to have the most family oriented approach. Randy, our contact at Unity, has been amazingly helpful in accommodating the team.

Written up in the schedule as the “YWAM Dancers,” the team has been given the privilege of performing on the festivals A Stage, the middle in size out of the three stages at Unity. Tomorrow the team will be performing twice, once at 3:15 and again at 6:15. After each performance the team makes its way to the Youth Tent where they get the chance to speak more in depth about how they have been involved in missions.

08/11/07

The final day of Unity Fest is here, and with it comes the end of the festivals. Today, the team performed twice on the A Stage (the same stage that Thousand Foot Krutch played on during the evening show). The team was able to continue to inspire people to join them in fulfilling the Great Commission through future YWAM Orlando programs. During this festival, each member of the team was able to share either on the A Stage or in the Youth Tent a testimony of how God had allowed them to be used on the missions field.

Tomorrow the team will be beginning the final leg of their journey. They will be working with a church in Holland, Michigan. Several of the church’s congregation have been a part of YWAM in the past, and the team will be working both in the church and, hopefully, around Holland doing ministry.

Kingdom Bound

08/08/07

The 2007 Festival Tour team has been doing wonderfully.  The team is now nearly at the end of their second festival, Kingdom Bound, which is located near Buffalo, New York.  The manager of the vending pavilion for Kingdom Bound has also given the team great favor and has allowed them to perform at the entrance to the vending pavilion at whatever intervals they want.  Every two or three hours the team goes out and performs two of their dances separated by a testimony from their missions experiences.  Yesterday, August 8, the team was scheduled to conduct a seminar on the use of performing arts as a tool on the mission’s field.  The seminar went well with 85 people attending.  In addition, the team has been networking with colleges and media producers and has even had two spots on the local camp radio station.

Tonight, the team will be leaving around 10 pm for the Unity Festival in Western Michigan.  The team will be driving all night to reach the festival on time.  At this final festival, the team will be staying in host homes which will be a welcome relief after camping for the past week.

Please pray for:

  • No more sickness
  • Alertness on the long drive to Michigan
  • God’s direction for the team at Unity Festival

Travel and Soulfest

07/31/07

We’ve finally arrived at our first festival!!!

Our road trip began at 6am on Monday morning July 30, and it wouldn’t be over until 6pm the next day. True to ancient missionary tradition, our trip would not have been complete without a flat tire. God blessed us however, and the team got that difficulty out of the way early on. By 12pm Monday they were all ready well on their way to fixing it. The team forged along I-95 all the way to New Jersey where the mother of a fulltime YWAM Orlando staff member accepted us into her home. It was nearly 4am, yet she met us with a full spread of food with selections from pasta with pesto to some of New Jersey’s best bagels.

After a refreshing night of sleep, the team with their 15-passenger white van (affectionately named Snoopy) pulled out for the second leg of the journey around 10:45am. After another eight hours on the road, they arrived in Gilford, New Hampshire. There they celebrated their arrival with a feast like only McDonalds can throw.

At Soulfest, the EQ Festival team will be volunteering as the bathroom cleaning crew. This team, though small, will play an important role at this year’s festival. Soulfest is the first of three music festivals that the EQ Festival team will be attending. The team’s capacity at each of these festivals will vary, but at each location the team will be sharing the opportunity to join YWAM Orlando in completing the Great Commission.

08/01/07

Monday held a varied set of duties for the EQ Festival Tour team. In the morning, part of the team was taught how to clean the restrooms and where the supplies are located. They will be responsible for four sets of restrooms which need to be cleaned several times a day due to high volumes of traffic.

Another group from the team spent the morning setting up and manning the booth. The team members are all ready beginning to build relationships with some of the other vendors from the nearby booths. Creagon began training the first two new mobilizers, Heather and Sue who, according to Creagon, “Did a great job!”

The day progressed with more restroom cleaning and recruiting followed by a session of dance practice. In the evening the team took a short walk across the field to their neighbor, the main band stage, to see Jeremy Camp in concert. Mr. Camp was a great relief after a long day of hard work.

Please keep us in your prayers. Some specific requests are:

  • Health: two team members have recently recovered from sickness and another is still fighting a fever
  • Guidance and Wisdom: as the team begins to invite people into missions
  • Grace: as the team cleans the toilets for several thousand excited fans
