What’s a Discipleship Training School?

A Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a 5-month adventure with God that will change your life, open your eyes, and give you a fresh understanding of God and His love for all people!

Your DTS starts with 3 months of classroom time (training) on-campus at YWAM Orlando. Every week you get to learn something brand new; teachers we trust from around the world come to Orlando to be part of this adventure with you! So you will learn about things like hearing the God’s voice, Biblical restoration, spiritual warfare, and so much more. Your week will also include worship, prayer, small groups, intercession for the Nations, one-on-one time with God, and spending time with the hilarious, encouraging, beautiful YWAM Orlando community!

Once you’ve finished your training, it’s on to the next adventure - outreach! Your last two months of the DTS will be spent overseas (with your outreach team, of course), applying all that training you just got! For two months you get to put into practice what you learned in Orlando; you will share the Gospel, experience the power of prayer, develop your ability to hear the voice of God, and see the world the way God does!

What are you waiting for? Sign up now for a YWAM Orlando Discipleship Training School!

What’s an “Interest Track”?

Simple explanation: Invest in the things that interest you most, and use your skills/gifts/passions to serve the Lord!

Going deeper: “Interest tracks” are training times in addition to your typical DTS schedule that pertain to your area of passion.

You can choose from:
Resound (worship)
Sports and Fitness

Here’s the deal: Basically, you will do everything that comes with the Classic DTS (class, work duties, worship, etc,) but then, if you’ve chosen an interest track (you can only choose one), you will spend extra time each week learning more about, as well as practicing, your interest!

We want you to be as ready as you can possibly be to serve God with your talents - He loves when we do that!

Check out the schedule below; it will tell you when your interest track is available.

Justice Track

“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”  - Isaiah 1:17

YWAM Orlando seeks to do justly in the areas of hunger, clean water, human trafficking, health, equality, poverty, and children at risk.

As a participant in the Justice Track, you will learn how you can be part of the solution to these devastating, worldwide injustices. By implementing the holistic Gospel (which you will learn about in class), and through prayer, projects, and local and overseas outreaches, you will be God’s hands and feet to the Nations!

“The poor do not need our sympathy and our pity. The poor need our love and compassion.” - Mother Teresa

Photography Track

Wanna use your love of photography to share God’s love with the world?

Then join us for the Photography track!

Our goal as photographers is not only to capture stories, but to capture them with a Kingdom perspective. There is hope and beauty in every situation, even within the real-life injustices happening in our world every day. Your involvement with the subject of your photo should not simply be the push of a button, but it should become a moment that compels you to pray and intercede!

As a student in the Photography Track, you’ll have “track time”, which is class time set aside to help you become the best photographer you can be. You will learn the technical stuff (like exposure, aperture, shutter, composition, etc...), as well as the abstract part of photography, like story-telling/photojournalism basics, and creative journalism. You will also have plenty of time to exercise your new photography muscles by working on your weekly assignments!

Requirements: Bring your own Digitial SLR camera (Nikon or Canon preferably) with standard zoom lens, camera bag, battery charger, extra battery, and memory cards. It is not required, but highly recommended that you bring your own laptop (for editing and storing photos), and a couple of other lenses (i.e. 50mm 1.8 or 1.4, or a telephoto 70-200mm). If you have questions regarding what type of equipment, please email us! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sports and Fitness

Working out, training others how to make the most of their exercise routines, and using sports as a way to share the Gospel with others...

If any of that sounds amazing to you, then the Sports and Fitness Track is for you!

Just as it is important to take care of our minds and hearts (our spiritual walks), it is also important to take care of our bodies. This track focuses on serving people by helping them reach their physical best, which, in turn, allows them to serve God with more versatility for the rest of their lives!

The Sports and Fitness Track embraces and utilizes playing sports, while also emphasizing physical conditioning, as a means of engaging the whole body. Students will have opportunities to participate in all kinds of sports, like soccer and basketball. Students and staff will also participate in fitness conditioning activities such as power-walking/hiking, bicycling, swimming, running, sprinting, and resistance training.

Be and feel your best while serving God! Apply today!

Music. Worship. Leading others into God's presence. Working as a team. Creating.

If you love any, or all, of these, then Resound is for you!

"Sing to God a brand-new song, sing His praises all over the world...

...Make God’s glory RESOUND; echo His praises from coast to coast."

                                                            Isaiah 42:10,12 MSG

By joining the RESOUND DTS, you will get the chance to grow in multiple areas as a worship leader and/or band member. You'll learn to partner with Holy Spirit - both in preparation for and leading worship. You'll get hands-on experience, which will give you the opportunity to grow in your gifts. Then you will weave worship into your outreach! God will use your gifts and the gift of worship to change the spiritual atmosphere in the Nations!
