A few years ago, I was in southeast Asia on my Discipleship Training School (DTS) outreach. One of the things we did almost every day was house visits. Our team had the opportunity to share Jesus with the locals while drinking tea. As we went house to house, a girl on my team would sing over people the words Jesus laid on her heart. Whenever she sang, amazing things would happen - people would weep tears of joy, tears of breakthrough, and tears of freedom. In those moments, people experienced the genuine love of Jesus without the help of translators. I share this story to highlight just how powerful honest worship is, no matter how far from home, no matter what language you speak, no matter where you come from or where you’re going; worship can bridge any gap.
Picture this: it’s night, and you’re sitting around a fire with your friends. Someone reaches over with a guitar and asks you to lead the group in worship. You close your eyes, strum the guitar, and begin to sing. Slowly, you hear others join in as Jesus meets you. Everyone is captivated by His love.
Now imagine you are in Asia leading a church congregation in worship. Once you finish the set, a man comes up to you and explains how he encountered the love of Jesus through a song you played and was freed from anxiety.

It doesn’t matter who you are with or where you are, honest worship always ushers in the presence of the Lord. This is why we desire to equip everybody with the ability to release the song that is inside of them. After all, that’s what worship is all about. It isn’t just a thing we do on Sundays at church. It’s an act of surrendering ourselves continually before Jesus to tell Him that He is worth it. It’s in the moments that we truly let go and say, “Father, this is all for you,” that He steps in to be with us.

Here at YWAM Orlando, we have a deep passion to praise Jesus every day and bring that with us overseas. We carry the heart of worship wherever we go, near or far, beginning on our campus. Every weekday begins with at least 45 minutes of worship as we all gather together in our chapel to glorify Jesus. We fight to encourage one another, pray for breakthrough, and seek the Lord’s heart in all things. Let me tell you, there has never been a time He has failed to come through! Even if it’s something as simple as hearing His voice or feeling His presence, Jesus is so faithful to show up. When His sons and daughters gather together to sing of His name, He is always moved. Worship gives us the opportunity to bless our Father’s heart in return for all of the blessings He has poured out on us. It creates a cycle of Him blessing us, then us blessing Him and it goes on forever. There is nothing more beautiful than engaging with the true love of our Father and following his lead, step by step!
We have the opportunity to create an atmosphere of worship everywhere we go. Will you join us? Wherever you are, wherever you come from, will you join us in this journey with our Father? Whether it’s from a stage in Asia, or in your bedroom, begin to lift up your honest praise and watch the Father move. Saying “Yes” to Him is a beautiful thing and YOU can do it! You have a song inside of you that will bless His heart. It’s time to let out your sound!
